About 30 minutes from the industrial city of Monterrey in a nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Madre Oriental and the Sierra de la Silla valley is a popular recreational area known as the Presa de la Boca. It is a place where young people go to enjoy the outdoor party Monterrey style: with roasts, hearty beer and loud music. In the mornings, the atmosphere is more familiar: people escape from the big city in search of nature and uses the space to stroll by boat, horseback riding, a picnic or water sports.
The official name of the Presa La Boca Presa Rodrigo Gómez is. It was completed in 1963 with the purpose of supplying the drinking water needs of the city of Monterrey and its metropolitan area. It has an area of 450 hectares and stores about 40 million cubic meters of water, catching rain water that accumulates in the Sierra Madre Oriental and the Sierra de la Silla (symbol of the city of Monterrey).
